5I have been doing my taxes for over 15 years with TurboTax. Each and every year they introduce new capabilities into the platform. Additionally, each and every year, my tax situation becomes even more and more complex. I am a long form filer with Schedule A, B, C, D, SE, H needs and complex partnerships for oil and gas wells. They take it all into consideration.
I have yet to have anybody find any problems with my returns. And when the IRS has questioned anything, I have great documentation of the history. I am also a religious Quicken user – I highly recommend using Quicken and TurboTax the way they are designed to she info.

0I just bought the download of Turbo Tax 2009 and had no problem at all with the download. The entire download including the Amazon software installer and Turbo Tax took only about 2 minutes on my broadband connection. Installation and updating of the Turbo Tax software took about another 15 minutes. My O/S is XP.

0I was intrepid after reading the problems with XP-Pro installation. However, I’ve used TurboTax for years, and TaxCut software just didn’t fit what we needed for the difference in price. I purchased the downloadable TurboTax software and decided I’d utilize the suggestions already posted by other consumers in their reviews if I had problems.
This software downloaded, installed & updated without a hitch! It’s open in the background as I’m writing this & has imported last year’s information successfully.
Just thought I’d add my input as I had no problems whatsoever with XP-Pro SP3.
I’m happy!

0I am a long time Turbo Tax user, also Quicken. The download process was less than 2 minutes – no problems or hitches. I was anticipating a problem and was reluctant to download due to user review AND I have Windows Vista. But, was VERY happy with download process.

5Last year, TaxCut left Mac users out in the cold when they stopped making a version for that platform. TaxCut customer service is pathetic as well. At the same time, Turbo Tax had solved a few problems that they’d been having for a couple of years. When I switched back, the only problem I ran into was not being able import the previous year’s TaxCut info into TurboTax.
The interface for the program is good. It’s fairly easy to jump back-and-forth within your return. The major drawback is that if you’re ready to file, the program won’t let you until it gets all of it’s updates. Beyond that, TurboTax earned my business back with a program that is easy to use and pays for itself.

5I’ve used this program on Mac for a few years now. I think its great, and the software has fetched me some good tax returns between being self-employed, a home owner, and regular employee. Not to mention all the donations I make for tax deductions!
I’ve used Tax Cut in the past and it did a good job, but Turbo Tax seems to do a better job. Plus the interface and options seem to be a better bargain, not to mention just easier to use and understand. As I understand, Tax Cut is no longer available for Mac users. Oh well. I have not experienced the variation of numbers from multiple testings of entering my tax data that others have spoken of. I’ve tested the theory in the past by entering all my information a couple of times, and each time I got the same refund amount. If I were to choose… it’d be Turbo Tax Federal Free Edition hands down. A lot cheaper and easier than going to a CPA!

5Turbo tax Federal Free Edition with State is a good deal from Amazon right now although it should go down in price as the tax season goes on. It did not contain the updates for energy efficient cars, Long distance telephone tax break as well as the home energy improvement update. Those will have to wait until February.

5I love this product, it works great and its especially useful if you use it year after year because it transfers your data, and also comparess one year to the next right on the screen, helping you to spot any errors you might make. But for my kids and others in low income categories, or certain ages, or military status, FREE Turbotax is available through the IRS web site; link from there to the FREE FILE information. A number of companies (including TurboTax) will let you fill out and file the forms right on line, and even file the state forms free for certain states. This allowed my daughter to file partial year resident forms in two states, it’s very easy.

5I just finished a pro-forma tax return last night and, as has been the case for many years, using TurboTax was relatively easy and “bulletproof.”
My criticisms below are therefore meant to be constructive…
1. While the deduction finder feature was great, it was tedious.
2. File saves could be more frequent or automatic.
3. Calculation fields attached to most, if not all, numeric entry panels would be a big plus.
4. File transfers from Quicken were spotty. Some items were missed due to field defintion conflicts between TT and Quicken 2003.
It’s the gold standard for home tax prep, though, and I would not hesitate to recommend using it.

5I have used TurboTax since I retired over 10 years ago. Before that I had always used a tax accountant to do my taxes. After using TurboTax for 4 or 5 years my doubting wife felt we should have the tax accountant review our tax return done using TurboTax. He found no errors and had no additional suggestions. For years I have been a Beta tester and each year there are improvements to the previous year’s program that I had thought couldn’t be improv

0I have used TurboTax tax preparation software for six years. While I no longer have to use the State tax part of the software, I always found it to be reliable and accurate for whatever state I needed. The Federal portion of the software is very complete and provides a thorough walk-through of even the most complex forms. We use it for our small LLC corporation as well. I would not think of changing to another software provider as long as TurboTax fulfills my tax preparation needs as well as it does now.

5Buying TurboTax turned out to be a great move. The software made filing my taxes super easy, plus I got two great benefits out of it: 1) I didn’t have to pay my EX-accountant the regular $250 (for doing the exact same thing), and 2) I actually feel like I understand a little more about my tax filing now.

0I have never done my own taxes before and I was a little apprehensive but this program was very easy. It walked me through everything and it also gave explanations along the way in case you didn’t understand what they were asking.

5Right off the bat I knew this product could be a home-run because it was the easiest “Install” I have ever done. In other words, it did it all FOR me!

0Been using TurboTax for about five years now, except for one year when I used TaxCut. TurboTax is by far the better of the two. Walks me right through 1040, plus my wife’s self-employed business filing swamp. Good deal all the way!

5Have used TurboTax for years, and it’s predecessor MacIntax and its just keeps getting better–received my State refund within 2 days of filing and will allow about 2 weeks for the Fed refund to show. Accuracy and simplicity is wahat it’s all about.

5I have been a user of TurboTax for about 10 years. As far as I’m concerned, unless you want the collaboration of a human Tax Accountant, this is the way to go.
Now, admittedly, I’m prejudiced. I’ve practically grown up with the product. And there are situations where no computer program can handle things – the ’simplified’ tax laws seem to be designed to provide financial security for CPAs. But for most people, just going through much the same interview you’d go through with your tax man with TurboTax will get a set of forms done.
The program is stable, and all the calculations seem to be accurate. I consider that I am an average tax payer (1040 long form – married) and the job takes me about 3 hours – in discontinuous chuncks on MY schedule (Try THAT with an accountant).
There are times when I find it difficult to enter things I KNOW need to be entered, and making changes can sometimes be a bit arduous – but I’m sure part of this because I only do this once each year (thank God!)
One caveat: Intuit seems to develop updates on a continuing basis. Downloading these is fine if you have a broadband connection. But for those who still have dial-up, I’d heartilly recommend avoiding updates until you’re ready to print or file electronically.

5I gave up using a CPA to do my taxes a few years ago and see no reason anyone would need one except in instances where there are truly some unusual tax related issues that go beyond the norm. I recommend that one only submit their TurboTax return forms no earlier than late February to ensure the latest software updates are provided to ensure an accurate return. Taking advantage of E-Filing will typically provide a refund within one to two weeks.

5I love this item, it is so easy to use and all the extra steps are very helpful in the tax process. I just wish the e-filing wasnt so expensive and if you buy the packaged deal you should be able to e-file under one price, i dont like the fact that at the end you get hit with about 40 more dollars just to do the actually filing, but I will continue to use this product as long as the price is reasonable.

5This goes from strength to strength each year. If you want to save money and don’t mind 3 hours in front of the computer (after you have collected all your W-2s and paperwork together), then this how to do your taxes.
Ability to save, change, edit at later dates prior to submission makes this a great tool for the busy people of this world.
Deduction finder was not as good as I hoped, though it did put me straight on most questions I had.
